Vergene Klevos

Vergene Renee (Klevos) Krahn --- Vergene was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on January 29, 1944 and died at Palm Springs, California, on March 29, 2003.  She is survived by her siblings:  Mavis Hanson of Dubuque, Dan Klevos of Atlantic, Iowa, Paul Klevos of Humboldt, Iowa and Cynthia Kawai of Palm Springs, California. 

Vergene grew up in Mason City, Iowa, and  moved later to California for a few years and then back to Iowa.  She married Dan Krahn in 1969 and lived in Wisconsin for about 15 years.  She divorced and moved back to California in 1985 where her sister Cynthia and brother-in-law Frank lived.  She worked for Foothill Independent Bank, Dicon Plastics & In-Line Plastics.  

She took quite ill in February of 2002 and had to leave her job.  Frank & Cynthia had just retired to Palm Springs and they moved her there into a condo.  She had a good year with lots of family visiting and made new friends.  Her lung disease became worse in January 2003 and eventually she was admitted to Hospice Care in the Special Care Unit of Desert Regional Medical Center March 20 where she rested peacefully until her death on March 29^th.  

Memorial services were held at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Rowland Heights, California, on April 2, 2003.  A memorial service was also held on April 26^th in Humboldt, Iowa, where her ashes were buried with her father and mother, Norris and Evelyn Klevos.
