Verland Kliven

 

GLENDOE, WY —  Funeral services for Verland Gary ‘Verl’ Kliven, 65, were held 2:00 p.m. at the Glendoe Community Church in Glendoe, WY with Jim Wilson officiating. 

Verl Kliven, a resident of Glendoe, died Thursday, August 14th, 2008 in Pueblo, CO.  He was born March 3, 1943 in Mason City, IA.   He was the son of Olse and Leila Violet Britton Kliven.  He was reared and educated in Mason City.  He graduated from Mason City High School in 1962. 

He moved to Pomona, CA where he worked as a security guard.  In the early 1970s he moved to Glendoe and began working as a boiler maker in 1973.  His work as a welder took him to numerous jobs throughout the United States, but he always returned to his home in Glendoe.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boiler Makers and his enjoyment was doing mechanical work and ‘tinkering’.  He was survived by his siblings, Ronald Kilven of Lovespark, IL, Arlin Kliven of Eldridge, IA, Loren (Yogi) Kliven of Romeland, CA and Carol Swartwood of Mason City, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.  The memorial was to the choice of the donor.  Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
