Bill Harrington

MASON CITY - William K. Harrington, 58, of 416 12th St. S.E., died Thursday (April 4, 2002) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Bill Poland officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church Monday.

Memorials may be directed to the William K. Harrington Memorial Fund.

William K. Harrington was born Oct. 23, 1943, in Mason City, the son of Paul and Loudell (Cheney) Harrington. He attended Mason City High School.

William was united in marriage to Marilyn Riehm on Aug. 29, 1964, in St. Ansgar. With their home in Mason City, Bill worked for Glenn Marshall for seven years and then worked in the trucking industry for 34 years, the last 20 years for Roadway Express.

Bill was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He loved watching NASCAR racing, participating in softball, camping, and traveling to Arizona. He especially loved his precious grandchildren.

William is survived by his wife, Marilyn Harrington, of Mason City; daughters, Laura Harrington of Denver, Colo., Missy Peters and her husband, Todd, of Mason City, and Kris Anderson and her husband, Dean, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Courtney and Dalton Peters and Tori and Jami Anderson, all of Mason City; brother, Larry P. Harrington and his wife, Gale, of Mason City; three sisters, Phyllis C. Lau and her husband, Paul, of Garner, Shirley L. Portis of Mason City, and Debbie R. Schmidt and her husband, Roger, of Garner; two aunts, Wilma Millard of Bella Vista, Ark., and Gladys Dodd of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents.
